The method of meditation and stretching according to the in-flight entertainment screen is controversial in the travel community.
The company that provides exercise equipment Peloton in cooperation with Delta Airlines (USA) has created a new trend of in-flight exercise. Through this partnership, they jointly launch fitness classes in the sky through entertainment screens.
5 classes, including stretching and meditation, have been designed specifically for Delta. Exercises last from 5 to 20 minutes, allowing passengers to easily do them from their seats.
This exercise initiative has been called “genius” by some sports lovers, “a great combination”, but many disagree. Exercising in a packed plane under them is not effective.
“Imagine you’re exercising when you’re stuck between the window and the elbow of the passenger next to you,” one person said. Another commented: “I hope I don’t get elbowed in the head when one of them does a stretch”, “Imagine people starting yoga on the aisle because there aren’t enough seat on the chair to do any movement”….
In 2018, a couple caused controversy while practicing yoga at the back of an airplane. While many were amazed and amused, one commenter said, “They look like clowns and it’s ridiculous”.
