Follow AP, on November 8, Kanye West’s Yeezy shoe company violated California law by not delivering goods to customers within 30 days as advertised. The rapper’s fees include $800,000 to the district attorney’s office for Los Angeles, Sonoma, Napa, and Alameda counties, $50,000 to a consumer protection fund, and a $100,000 investigation fee.
Last month, the district attorney’s office for Los Angeles, Sonoma, Napa, and Alameda counties indicted Yeezy on charges of false advertising and violating delivery deadlines while selling online.
Los Angeles-based attorney George Gascón said: “Online customers are protected from unreasonable fees and long wait times. California law requires businesses to ship within 30 days. Otherwise, they don’t. can do, they must send a letter explaining the reason for the delay to the guest, providing an exchange or refund solution.”
In 2009, Kanye West partnered with Nike to release the first Yeezys shoe. After that, the rapper continuously combined with many big fashion houses such as Louis Vuitton, Bape, Adidas… to launch sneaker models that were popular with many people. In 2015, West opened his own fashion brand called Yeezy, which is now one of the most famous sports shoe brands in the world.
In March, Swiss bank UBS valued West’s fashion brand between $3.2 billion and $4.7 billion. The singer’s net worth is currently about 6.6 billion USD.
