Show Vietnamese Rap season two is in trouble because of using pirated images, not creating explosive effects like season one.
The reality show about rap music currently airs four episodes, attracting more than 20 million views in total on YouTube. Despite efforts to record and broadcast during the pandemic, the crew caused problems related to copyright.
On November 7, Singapore businessman Min-Liang Tan posted on his personal page, saying that the program uses an image of a mask model designed by his gaming company Razer. Min-Liang Tan then updated that representative Vietnamese rap contacted him to resolve the matter.
Earlier, on the evening of November 5, painter Jaime Jasso – the founder of the company that trains graphic engineers CGPreceptor – reflected on his program of using graphic products as background for posters without asking for permission. Vie Channel – production unit Vietnamese rap season two – says the cause was design negligence, using images from a free download site. They removed the images, and contacted the author and the owner to ask for permission.
In addition to the copyright issue, episode four of the show (aired on the evening of November 6) had an editorial error. Rapper Lap Nguyen uses the song’s melody Fly between the galaxy by Nguyen Van Chung to perform. However, in the introduction, the crew recorded the author’s name as Nam Cuong (performing singer). On his personal page, musician Nguyen Van Chung said he was sad because the crew let mistakes happen. The program representative then contacted the musician and edited the online broadcast.
Vietnamese rap efforts to innovate, install the element of surprise but not yet create a good effect. In the opening episode, the show swapped the roles of LK and Rhymastic. According to information from the organizers, LK is the new coach, replacing Suboi’s position. However, Rhymastic said he aspires to conquer the gold cup and help more contestants. The rapper switched places with LK, becoming a coach with Binz, Karik and Wowy. LK and JustaTee serve as judges.
However, LK and JustaTee do not have a good relationship, often disagree, lack of connection. On Youtube, some viewers commented that LK’s role was lackluster. In season one, on the judge’s chair, Rhymastic had many laughs when constantly teasing the contestants and coaches, and at the same time making many insightful professional comments.
Wowy – one of the four trainers of the show – was also criticized by many viewers for his “excessive” dressing style and jokes. The rapper squatted playing with a car model as the other coaches competed for contestant Shanhao. He often said meaningless sentences, unrelated to the content being asked. He then explained that he wanted to create a happy atmosphere when filming during the pandemic.
The second season contestants have not made a breakthrough. From the casting round, this year’s program attracted thousands of contestants from both regions. However, the famous names in the first episodes are all vocalists who have been active in the underground for a long time like Blacka, Sol7, Vsoul… Some hot girls like Mai Nhac, J Jade have bright looks, has a large fan base on social networks but has not yet convinced the audience because of its technical limitations. To date, the performance that has received the most praise from the audience is Candle by Coldzy (based on the song’s melody The candle in front of the wind by LK, JustaTee). On Youtube, many viewers praised him for bringing a new and positive energy, reminiscent of GDucky – last season’s runner-up.
The crew said that they had a lot of difficulties when filming when the distance was eased. Guests and candidates all have to quickly test for Covid-19, wear masks or anti-droplet glasses, and manufacturers wear protective gear to work. However, the organizers are trying to bring a quality entertainment series during the epidemic season.
Although not booming with tens of millions of views per episode like in season one, Vietnamese rap is still the most popular music program. Many fans said that they are still watching the game show, waiting for a breakthrough in the following rounds. Rapper Ha Le thinks that the reality contests next season are less successful than the first season, because viewers are no longer as curious as before. However, he still appreciates Vietnamese rap by contributing to promoting and creating a place for this genre in the general flow of music.
