Fast charging station for electric cars, ultra-fine grinding technology for the production of ceramic tiles, a combination of domestic chicken breeds… are among the works honored with the Vifotec 2020 award.
On the evening of October 11, the Vietnam Fund for Technical Innovation (Vifotec) summed up and awarded the 26th Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award and the 2020 WIPO Prize. There were 45 works awarded, in which 5 first prizes, 11 second prizes, 13 third prizes and 16 consolation prizes.
The five first prizes belonged to the works: “Research, design and manufacture simulation equipment for training YHK cabin crew of S125 – 2TM anti-aircraft missile control station” by the team of Major.Mr. Chu Van Hiep. , Lieutenant Colonel. Dr. Pham Duc Thoa, Nguyen Xuan Thien, Vo Hong Thang and colleagues from the Institute of Missiles, Institute of Military Science and Technology, Ministry of National Defense.

The WIPO Prize was awarded by the World Intellectual Property Organization for the work “Applying ultra-fine grinding technology in the production of high-quality Cotto tiles” by AHLD. Dr. Nguyen Quang Mau and his associates, Dat Viet Ceramic Joint Stock Company.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Phan Xuan Dung, President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations highly appreciated the winning works. He said that, in the past 26 years, the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award has attracted the participation of a large number of scientists in the country.
The winning works have been applied in production, bringing high socio-economic efficiency, contributing to promoting production of enterprises, improving productivity, quality, lowering product costs, Import substitution, saving foreign currency for the country. Over the past 26 years, there have been 2,801 projects participating and 939 projects winning awards.
Right after the award ceremony, Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat launched the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award in 2021. According to a representative of Vifotec Foundation, due to the impact of the covid-19 epidemic, the 2020 awards must be postponed to 2021. Currently, the activities of this year’s prizes are still being implemented and will extend the time to receive applications. participate in the award from October 30 to November 30, 2021. In November and December 2021, the organizers will establish a jury and conduct judging, reviewing and awarding awards at the end of 2021.
The Vifotec Prize is annually organized by the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee.
