My Anh sang “Yen” – a song she composed – at the music festival “Head in the clouds” in Los Angeles, November 7.
Opening the second day of the event, My Anh performed five self-written songs, including Yen. Despite the language barrier, the song captivated the audience with its catchy, R&B-style melody. Many people continuously danced along with the singer, raised their phones to record the performance. Yen Talking about a girl’s thoughts about happiness and peace, was the most popular performance of the five songs performed by My Anh. In addition, she performed the song from the newly released album for the first time – LookEasy. The remaining three songs are Got You, Can’t Hear A Thing, Pillar.
My Anh rarely interacts with the audience, only introducing the name of the song before each performance. She combined well with the band, confidently mastering the stage. At the end of the performance, she expressed her happiness when being received by the audience. The singer ran to celebrate with his brother-in-law – drummer Eric Derwallis – a member of the supporting band. She also asked another artist in the band to take a picture of herself celebrating with the audience.
The 19-year-old vocalist came to the US in early November to prepare for the performance. Before that, she practiced vocals with her mother, and at the same time did physical training for two months. When she received an invitation from the organizers in August, she burst into tears of happiness.
The show took place at the Rose Bowl stadium, welcoming tens of thousands of viewers. The organizers require viewers to be vaccinated with Covid-19 vaccine, have a negative test certificate within 72 hours, to ensure safety because of the epidemic. The show has the participation of CL – a member of the famous Korean group 2NE1 and faces in the Asian hip-hop village such as: Joji, Niki, Rich Brian.
My Anh was born in 2002, the youngest child of singer My Linh and musician Anh Quan. She has loved singing since she was a child, and has been working independently since last year. My Anh’s compositions have gentle colors, positive messages, and R&B style.
