From a person who was pampered by her parents, who only knew how to be engrossed in the stage, Thu Huyen learned how to be a wife when she married Tan Minh.
Thu Huyen posted a moment with her husband on November 1 with the note: “It’s been 17 years but it feels like it was yesterday. Looking at the two children, we can see that we are really ‘grown up’. Let’s hold hands and go to the end of the child. my way”. Tan Minh thanked his wife for always taking care of him and bringing positive energy to his father and son.
The artist said that due to the epidemic, the couple and their two children held a private party at home, blowing out candles to celebrate the simple and warm wedding anniversary. For her, a healthy and peaceful family together is an incomparable happiness.
Before getting married, the two were friends for 10 years. At that time, she never thought she would marry him. The criteria for choosing a life partner are different for both of them. She does not like to marry people as art because she is afraid that both of them will be busy in the future and have no one to take care of their children. While he likes the model of a long-legged girl, as beautiful as a beauty queen. “Ironically, in the end, I married a husband of the same profession and Minh married a short-legged woman,” she said with a laugh.
In early 2002, when Tan Minh was busy preparing for his first album First love letter, the sister stamped, wrapped the cover. For a moment, they silently looked at each other, then suddenly realized the love in their hearts, officially fell in love since then. In 2004, the two became husband and wife.
The 17-year happiness of the artist couple was built with love and sharing. After getting married, they respectively welcomed sons Minh Nam (2005) and Minh Khoi (2010). Thu Huyen took care of her two children by herself, doing everything in the house. Many days when she went to perform in the province, she did not ride the bus, took advantage of some time to cook for her husband and children, then drove to the car later.
In return, every time at home, Tan Minh changes diapers, sings lullabies to sleep, washes dishes, and shares chores so that his wife has time to rest. They are lucky to have grandparents living close by, supporting them to take care of their grandchildren when they both go on tour. Now the children are grown and can do everything on their own.
Thu Huyen said that she and her husband had never quarreled during their time together, despite their different personalities. He has a calm, closed personality, while she is more open to everyone. The two set the unwritten rule of having something to say. When there is a conflict, brothers and sisters talk and express their views to understand each other. Therefore, the two have never been angry for more than two days. Tan Minh said: “In the family, if the husband’s face is slightly frowning, the wife knows right away and vice versa. The husband and wife let each other go where they lose and are embarrassed, until they calm down, there is nothing that can’t be solved.”
Tan Minh is not a romantic type, doesn’t say much love but cares about his wife from small things. He often works as a driver to take his wife to work and to perform. Once, she picked up a bag of daisies to make props on stage. However, close to the show time, she discovered that she had left it at home. He was at the backstage at the time, so he went back to his car to get it for his wife. Until now, every time I see Daisies, the artist is still touched by the image of her husband hurrying to give her a bag of flowers. “He doesn’t know how to speak with wings, but he acts very sincerely and responsibly,” she said.
For many years together, the two kept the habit of chatting every evening. They shared about the day’s happenings, work, relationships to the political and social situation… She said that many days, the couple did not sleep until almost morning. Sometimes, husband and wife invite each other to hide from their children to ride bicycles, watch movies, and spend time together. In free time, the whole family goes on a trip together, enjoying life. “Besides work, you have to create your own joy to connect the family,” Thu Huyen said.
Together in artistic activities, the two accompany in every project. Every time Thu Huyen plays a new play, her husband is the first appraiser. He often gives suggestions from content to acting, sharing experiences for her to improve. When the singer produces albums and does live shows, she participates in support. In 2014, when he held a live show, she appeared on stage to cheer her husband on. The two sang together for the first time in the rowing performance Peach willow alone.
Thu Huyen is currently the deputy director in charge of art of the Hanoi Cheo Theatre, and Tan Minh is the director of the Thang Long Music and Dance Theater. In August, both were on the list of proposals for the title of People’s Artists of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports.
