New generation Toyota Avanza – makeover to fight Mitsubishi Xpander

Avanza’s grille is now fully extended and is a large trapezoid with horizontal slats. The projector lamp cluster is flattened and integrated with LED technology.

The design of the MPV follows a more modern style than the old generation. The car looks taller because of the larger size rims. The rear end is smoother than the almost vertical slope of the old generation. The overall style is in favor of the SUV line.

The size of the new generation Avanza has also increased, by 205 mm longer, 70 mm wider, and 95 mm more wheelbase. The height depends on the version, may be 30 mm lower or 5 mm higher than the old generation. Specifically, the length x width x height parameters are 4,395 x 1,730 x 1,665/1,700 mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm.

The new generation Avanza uses the same DNGA platform as the new Raize model, which is also the common structure of Daihatsu Rocky and Perodua Ativa. The removable ladder frame of the old generation has been replaced by a monolithic frame that combines MacPherson front suspension and torsion bar rear shock absorbers.

For the first time, Avanza uses a front-wheel drive system instead of a rear-wheel drive. Engine options remain the same, including 1.3 liter DOHC, 4 cylinders with Dual VVT-i dual variable valve timing technology for a capacity of 96 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and torque. 121 Nm at 4,200 rpm. 5-speed manual transmission.

Another option is a 1.5-liter engine with 104 hp at 6,000 rpm and 137 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm, combined with a 5-speed manual transmission or CVT.

Safety equipment includes a pre-collision warning system, front vehicle warning to change direction, lane keeping assist, accelerator control, rear collision warning and blind spot monitoring.

In Indonesia, Avanza sells 4 versions, the lowest is the 1.3E version priced from 14,500 USD, the higher is the 1.5G version priced at 16,000-17,000 USD (depending on the gearbox), and the highest is the 1.5G CVT TSS version priced at 18,500 USD. .

In Vietnam, the current generation Toyota Avanza is assembled and has a suggested price of 544-612 million VND.
