State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc outlined three solutions to economic recovery in the “new normal” when attending an APEC meeting.
State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc tonight attends the annual Dialogue between APEC Leaders and the APEC Business Council (ABAC), which will be held online, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to the President, in the face of unprecedented difficulties and challenges that the world is facing, economies need a holistic, breakthrough and strong approach. APEC must create new opportunities, link economic recovery with digital economic transformation, circular economy, green growth, take strong measures to respond to climate change and always ensure the benefits people, bringing into play the potentials of disadvantaged groups.
President Nguyen Xuan Phuc reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to reduce net emissions to net zero by 2050, reduce methane emissions by 30% by 2030, and raise the proportion of renewable energy to over 30 %.
He also shared that Vietnam is implementing many strong measures, taking a holistic approach, integrating plans and strategies for economic recovery in the “new normal” condition with digital economic transformation, green growth and economic development. adaptation to climate change. First of all, for economic recovery, all policies are aimed at supporting both workers and employers.
Second, green growth and climate change response are being widely implemented in Vietnam through afforestation programs, “favorable” economic models, and adaptation to climate change. And finally, strengthen economic connectivity, secure supply chains, improve the business environment, and create all conditions for business success.
The President said that the ambitious goals of APEC economies on economic recovery and response to climate change can only come true when the APEC business community creatively and effectively implements the initiative. emissions reduction, increase investment in renewable energy projects, apply new technologies and form green production and supply chains. He affirmed that Vietnam always welcomes APEC and international investors and calls on ABAC members to accompany APEC economies and people to overcome the pandemic and recover their economy.
The annual dialogue between APEC and ABAC Leaders is an activity held annually within the framework of the APEC Summit Week, in order to promote substantive exchanges between APEC economic leaders and the business community. This year’s dialogue focuses on joint efforts of the state and businesses to overcome the crisis and accelerate economic recovery.
