After recovering from COVID-19, how soon can I be reinfected?

Many people, after being infected with COVID-19, subjectively think that they have strong antibodies, have received 3 vaccines, so they are not worried about being re-infected for at least 3-6 months. But in fact many cases of COVID-19 who have recovered, in a period of more than 1 month they continue to be re-infected for the second time.

Sharing about the case of re-infection, Dr. Bui Nghia Thinh (Ho Chi Minh City Family Clinic) says:

Reinfection is when we get the virus once, then recover and get the virus again.

Usually, when infected with a virus, the body will have antibodies to protect it. Recently, a case of reinfection with COVID-19 was reported in the community after 1 month. However, from subsequent infections, the disease is very mild, even without symptoms.

According to statistics, there are many people who are re-infected twice with this disease, but it takes about 1 month. However, the rate of people getting enough injections over 2 and finishing the 3rd dose is now pretty good, so even if there is a re-infection, there’s no need to worry.

How long after being infected with COVID-19 can you be reinfected?

In addition, Dr Thinh also shared, we are not sure how many times after vaccination, the body creates immunity without needing to be vaccinated again. However, the further away the next injection is from the previous one, the higher the immune effect. However, injections that are too far can cause disease at a stage before the next injection. Therefore, depending on the situation, one should consider the next injection.
