Government approves proposal to reduce environmental protection tax on gasoline and oil

The government has just issued Resolution No. 31/NQ-CP which approved the National Assembly Standing Committee Resolution project on environmental protection tax rates for gasoline, oil and grease.

“The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry and Trade are responsible for the content and data of the report”, the resolution reads.

On that basis, the Government assigned the Minister of Justice, authorized by the Prime Minister, on behalf of the Government to sign a report to be reported to the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on March 14, 2022, so that the project can be completed. will be included in the 2022 Ordinance and Legislative Development Program, submitted to the Standing Committee of the National Assembly according to a one-session process, and compiled according to an abbreviated sequence and procedure.

The Ministry of Finance must immediately send the relevant files and documents to the Ministry of Justice in accordance with regulations.

Simultaneously, the Government assigned the Minister of Finance, who was authorized by the Prime Minister, on behalf of the Government to sign a Report to the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on March 14, 2022 regarding the project resolution mentioned above. approve in accordance with the meeting process, arrange according to the shortened sequence and procedure as determined.

Previously, following the direction of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Finance studied and developed the Resolution of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on environmental protection tax rates for gasoline, oil and fats in order and shortened procedures.

The Ministry of Finance proposes to reduce the environmental protection tax rate for gasoline to 2,000 VND/liter; diesel, fuel oil, lubricating oil is 1,000 VND/liter; fat is 1000 VND/kg; kerosene is 700 VND/liter.

At the same time, the Ministry of Finance proposed that the resolution be effective from April 1, 2022 until the end of December 31, 2022.

With the above tax reductions, it is expected that environmental protection tax revenue for these goods will decrease by about VND 29,035 billion/year.
