If only I had known from my youth I would not have spent so much time working so hard and pretending to be with everyone!

Age often comes with wisdom, and at 50, I realize a lot of things I didn’t feel when I was in my 20s, 30s or 40s. Because I learned all these lessons through my experience, stumble and struggle, so hopefully with this article, you will have less detours than me.

first. Life will always have regrets

I know it’s a waste of time to look back and wish I did or didn’t do this or that, but sometimes I just can’t. Life will always have regrets, and I will always try to imagine the future. At 50, I will try to fill my 60, 70, 80, 90 or 100 self with joy and wisdom, strength and perseverance. I’m trying to create my future that will look back at me now and say, “Thanks bro. It’s hard work, but it’s worth it. Especially thanks for the occasional cookie at breakfast.”

2. Life would be boring if it was too easy.

3. There are a million things I wish I knew when I was younger. Number 1 is the pursuit of difficult things that always bring joy. 26: Should eat shrimp and minced food as often as possible.

4. If you tell me you’re not ready for it anyway, I’m still saying do it because if you wait until you’re ready, you’ll never make it.

5. I’ve spent too much of my life chasing the easy and avoiding the hard. But now I’m not like that anymore.

One thing I know for sure: Enduring one challenge gives us strength and perseverance when the next one arises.

6. Drive to a city you’ve never been to, find a restaurant in a small town, and say to the waiter, “Bring me the signature dish here.” Eat as is.

And if you can, do it in a country you’ve never been to.

7. The older you get, the less you care what other people think of you. You start to prioritize your emotions more. But why not do it when you’re young, I mean, why don’t you think about it later? So why not live so bright and light when you are young?

8. Everything is under control.

Except love.

And generosity.

And laughter.

You have better things to do with your life than trying to fit into a certain pattern.

9. Call your parents, call not because one day they will leave and you will wish you had more time with them, call them because they are your parents, they love you and want to hear your voice every day.

ten. Sweat outside as often as possible, at least once a week.

11. There is no such thing as work-life balance. There is only life, and work is a part of it.

twelfth. No one looks back at the end of their life and wishes they had worked more.

13. I won’t get bigger, faster, stronger, more flexible as I get older, but I can become kinder, more empathetic, and more helpful to those around me.

14. Be the kind of person who makes other people feel good even when they are weak, that’s when the magic in a relationship happens.

15. Work less, and you can sleep more, and you can play more.

16. Be careful with the fake masks you wear. In the end you will be confused which one to use in what context. Instead, try leaving everything at home.

17. Eight years ago, I realized that I had to be tougher. When life gets tough, I am always afraid and cower in fear of what the world will throw at me next. I need to increase my strength. And the way I use to improve is to constantly go to the border of my comfort zone, take deep breaths, and take a few extra steps. And I did. The current me doesn’t back down from any challenge, and that’s the result of stepping out of my comfort zone one step at a time.

18. Becoming a journalist is a great gift in my life. I get paid to ask people questions about their lives, listen to their answers, and then write a story. And I realized that the most important skill — which we all need, without exception — is listening.

19. Never be afraid to ask someone for help. Help someone when they need it, and also give someone a chance to drive you when you need them.
