Based on a number of criteria such as maintenance, remote customer service, online transactions, data analytics company JDPower has announced a ranking of the car brands with the best quality of service in the US this year 2022.

Overall, most car owners are satisfied with the dealer service experience. However, the survey results show that electric vehicle users have a lower level of satisfaction than those who drive gasoline or gasoline-fueled vehicles.

According to the 2022 JDPower Customer Service Index, dealer service departments are overwhelmed while the workforce is shrinking. Disruptions to the spare parts supply chain also led to further delays in servicing customers. This has resulted in longer waiting times for scheduled appointments, with owners taking more than four days to take their car to a dealer for service.

Despite the objective issues, car owners still show confidence that their dealer’s service department will take good care of their vehicles, even if they require complex repairs. The speed of communication with customers is also appreciated, with 42% of customers preferring to receive a simple text message for a vehicle status update or an upcoming appointment reminder.

In addition, the dealer’s service department also sends photos or videos to car owners regarding the ongoing maintenance work, so that they can rest easy. Having staff come to pick up the car or fix it on site will increase satisfaction.

This year, Lexus beat Cadillac and regained the top spot in the ranking of luxury brands. Porsche has lost 20 points from 2021 and dropped to third place after finishing last year’s study. Meanwhile, other leading names such as Acura and BMW are included in the top 5 luxury car brands in the US market with the best service quality.

In the popular car category, the Mini brand continues to hold the top spot, but only narrowly trails manufacturer Buick. Mazda is third, followed by Mitsubishi and GMC.
