COVID-19 March 14: Positive cases spike, causing local overload, local emergency response

On March 14, the Ministry of Health issued Decree No. 604 concerning Guidelines for Home Management for Patients with COVID-19.

This document supersedes the Decree of the Minister of Health: No. 261 dated January 31, 2022 which stipulates Guidelines for the Management of People with COVID-19 at Home and No. 528 dated March 3, 2022 which regulates Guidelines for the Management of COVID-19 Patients at home for children with COVID-19.

According to the new guidelines issued on March 14, the clinical criteria for people with COVID-19 being treated at home were added “Being a COVID-19 patient who has been treated by a medical examination and treatment facility but has not met the Credentials of COVID-19 and meets the criteria for home management. sent home for follow-up care.”

Additionally, Decision Guide 604 adds a “Medical statements” section with an F0 for home care.

Where, F0 or caregiver notifies the community health station, ward, or F0 management facility at home… according to local guidelines on: personal information, time of diagnosis of COVID-19 , subject managed at home, when isolation ends, discharge treatment.

Posyandu, wards or facilities that manage people with COVID-19 at home collect information and create a list of people with COVID-19 to be managed at home according to the form specified in Appendix 01.

Necessary items with home care F0

– thermometer;

– personal SpO2 meter (if any);

– Medical masks;

– Hand hygiene facilities;

– Necessary personal items;

– Containers for infectious waste with lids.

– Means of communication: Telephone, telephone numbers of medical facilities (medical stations, district health centers, emergency transportation centers, doctors, community consultation groups, response teams) fast, hospitals …).

Family home care needs to be prepared when F0 is present

– Antipyretics: paracetamol for adults: 500mg tablets, an adequate amount for 3-5 days. Paracetamol for children (depending on weight and age): powdered sachets or nuggets mixed with oral suspension or tablets containing 80mg, 100mg, 150mg or 250mg, 325mg, 500mg, an amount sufficient for 3-5 days.

– Electrolyte balancing solution: Oresol, rehydration pack, other electrolytes.

– Cough suppressants (depending on symptoms): Herbal medicine, or cough suppressants alone, or cough medicine in combination with antihistamines…., the amount is enough for 5-7 days. Pay attention to the indications, contraindications and warnings, be careful when using the drug.

– Nasal solution: 0.9% sodium chloride, enough for 5-7 days.

– Medicines to treat the underlying disease according to the prescription used by the patient (if necessary enough for 01-02 weeks).

The guidelines “Monitoring the health of people with COVID-19” have hardly changed from the previously issued documents (No. 261 and No. 528). However, the Ministry of Health added a requirement to the implementation of infection prevention measures.

Therefore, F0 and caregivers or people living in the same household as F0 apply infection control and infection prevention measures, as follows:

– F0 need to limit out of isolation place. When you have to leave the isolation area, you must wear a mask and keep your distance from other people.

– Caregivers or family members who live in the same house always wear masks and keep their distance if they have to come into contact with F0.

– The isolation area is kept well ventilated, limiting the use of items that are difficult to clean (stuffed animals, paper, paperboard…) in this area.

– Wash or disinfect hands frequently. Disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces such as tables, doorknobs, handheld devices, toilets, sinks, etc., daily and when dirty
