Hoa Phat seizes Vingroup, becomes ‘cash king’ on Vietnam stock exchange
According to our statistics, as of 31 December 2021, there were 20 businesses that had a cash amount of more than VND 10,000 billion. (Cash includes: Cash, cash equivalents and short-term financial investments).
Among them, Hoa Phat from 3rd place last year has risen to 1st place this year, with a total of more than 40,000 billion dong.
Last year’s cash winner, Vingroup, this year dropped to 4th place, with around VND 26,400 billion.
Other businesses with over $1 billion in cash holdings include ACV, GAS, FPT and Vinamilk. Thus, the number of businesses owning 1 billion USD has increased from 3 to 6.
Hoa Phat was also the company with the largest increase in cash volume last year, when it increased by nearly 19,000 billion VND. Behind is Masan, when the money increased by 14,400 billion VND, to almost 1 billion USD.
In addition, there are 3 businesses that have recorded an increase in cash volume of more than 9,000 billion a year, namely Masan Consumer Holdings, FPT and Gelex.
With large sums of money, most businesses leave only a small amount of cash in their accounts, the rest being allocated for short-term (1-3 months) or medium-term (3-12 months) savings. .
Statistics show that in 6 companies with cash volume of more than 1 billion USD, the total cash amount is only 23.2 trillion VND while the total short-term financial investment is 6 times higher, up to 124 trillion VND. Vingroup is the only company that allocates more “cash” than “cash equivalents” and “short-term financial investments”.
At ACV, 98% of the Corporation’s money is used for short-term financial investments.
