Hue intends to invite the “genie of the lamp” to relocate the ancient villa at 26 Le Loi

On the morning of March 14, a leader of TT-Hue Provincial People’s Committee said that the provincial People’s Committee had just concluded to send the People’s Committee of Hue city about the survey and plan to relocate the ancient villa at 26 Le Loi Street (Hue City).

Accordingly, the old French-style villa will be moved to the opposite area, near the bank of the Perfume River with the idea of ​​​​hiring “genius” Nguyen Van Cu (residing in Ho Chi Minh City) to move.

The work is the interference of French architecture and indigenous architecture

It is known that the French villa at 26 Le Loi was formerly the headquarters of the Union of Literary and Art Associations of TT-Hue province. With French architecture built in the early 20th century, the villa has beautiful, sophisticated and very valuable architecture, now over 100 years old.

After 1975, this villa was frequented by musician groups Tran Hoan, Van Cao, Trinh Cong Son, Tran Huu Phap…; writers and poets Thanh Hai, Nguyen Khoa Diem, To Nhuan Vy, Tran Thuy Mai…

In addition, this is also the place where many famous researchers, critics, and poets from all over the world have come to exchange cultural activities.

In early 2018, TT-Hue Provincial People’s Committee issued a decision to announce 27 typical French architectural works in Hue city in order to prepare for planning and calling for investment to preserve, embellish and promote. values ​​of 27 buildings, however, the French villa No. 26 Le Loi is not on the list.

After that, TT-Hue Provincial People’s Committee agreed to allow Logi 3 Communication Services and Infrastructure Joint Stock Company to research and invest in THAT high-class hotel and commercial service complex project at land No. 26, 28 Le Loi Street, Hue City.

Before the above information, many intellectuals and artists in Hue reacted when another ancient French villa was in danger of being demolished to make a hotel.

Vo Le Nhat – Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee said that after receiving the conclusion of the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, this unit will coordinate with the Department of Construction to study whether the relocation of villa No. to the opposite position is spatially appropriate or not.
