In February 2022, the number of companies that registered for new establishments and resumed operations reached almost 11.4 thousand companies, 1.7 times higher than the number of companies withdrawing from the market (6.6 thousand companies). Even though there is a Lunar New Year holiday in February, the number of newly registered businesses and the number of businesses returning to operations is still higher than the February average for the 2017-2021 period.

In general, in the first two months of 2022, the number of newly founded companies increased by 11.9% over the same period last year; the number of companies returning to operations increased sharply by 102.5 percent. The number of businesses returning to operations is increasing in all areas.

According to the Department of Business Registration (Ministry of Planning and Investment), in the first 2 months of 2022, the number of companies temporarily suspending business was concentrated mainly on a capital scale of 0-10 billion VND with 29,939 companies (counting 91). 0.5%, up 50.6% over the same period in 2021); from 10 to 20 billion VND, there were 1,557 companies (accounting for 4.8%, up 57.9% over the same period in 2021); from 20 to 50 billion VND, there were 750 companies (accounting for 2.3%, up 55.9% over the same period in 2021); from VND 50 to 100 billion, there are 290 companies (accounting for 0.9%, up 79.0% over the same period in 2021) and on a scale of more than VND 100 billion, there are 189 companies (accounting for 0.6%, up 54 , 9% over the same period in 2021).

Most of the companies that temporarily suspended their business in the first 2 months of 2022 had a short operating time, especially those aged 0-5 years with 17,066 companies (contributing 52.1%); 8,580 companies operating for 5-10 years (accounting for 26.2%) and 7,079 companies operating for more than 10 years (accounting for 21.6%).

In Hanoi alone, the locality leads the country in the number of Covid-19 cases, the number of businesses that suspended business in the first 2 months of 2022 is 7,432 companies (accounting for 22.7% number of companies temporarily suspending business across the country), an increase of 76.7% over the same period in 2021.
