Ruins of another planet? -Information Technology

Two strange structures that seem to grow from the earth’s core, reaching almost the end of the mantle, look like an alien supercontinent filled with strange mountains in the movie, looking like 2 oscillating “living monsters”.

A team led by Arizona State University (USA) ran hundreds of computer simulations to determine what exactly the two anomalies hidden in the Earth’s mantle, beneath the Pacific and African Oceans, and how they work.

The two structures, known as the two giant “blobs” on Earth’s tomographic maps, appear to emerge from the outer surface of the planet’s core and rise like a giant mass. The anomaly under Africa is estimated to be 1,500 km high, while the structures on the Pacific side are 800 km high.

According to Science Alert, new research shows that the two “ghost supercontinents” have different compositions, although their effect on the surrounding mantle remains unclear.

They are all composed of rocks of different composition, but the structure beneath Africa is less stable, partly explaining the intense volcanic activity in parts of the continent. It also appears to influence the movement of actively moving tectonic plates over the mantle.

The two structures looked like two living monsters, oscillating up and down within the mantle.

It is still not possible to answer where these two structures came from, but there are two main hypotheses.

First, plate tectonics, or pieces of Earth’s crust, that sank during past plate tectonics, slid deep into the mantle, heated to extreme heat, and gradually deformed and sank deep into the bottom of the mantle.

Second, the remnants of the planet Theia, a Mars-sized planet that is estimated to have collided with Earth 4.5 billion years ago, when Theia was still a protoplanet and Earth was still a young sperm planet.

The study was just published in the scientific journal Nature Geoscience.
