The woman died of lung damage after Covid-19
MSc Nguyen Thu Huong, Head of the Covid-19 Prevention Unit, Thanh Nhan Hospital said that the hospital admitted a 62-year-old female patient with respiratory failure.
Through mining, he contracted Covid-19 and was admitted to a hospital in Hanoi. After recovering from his illness, he was allowed to go home to monitor his own health. A month later, the patient was still having difficulty breathing, he went to Thanh Nhan Hospital for treatment and was diagnosed with respiratory failure.
With his SpO2 (blood oxygen concentration) at 80%, he was prescribed oxygen but his condition did not improve. Through a chest CT scan, it was determined that the patient had lung damage and white fibrosis.
Not responding to treatment, the patient was transferred to the ICU, placed in ECMO but died 3 days later.
“Through the examination, we found that the hypertension was not too severe, the patient’s age was not too high, several weeks had recovered and after continuous hospitalization, the test result was negative for SARS-CoV-2”, Dr Huong analyzed.
Every day, Thanh Nhan Hospital receives about 100 people who come to check for post-Covid-19 sequelae. Subjects are mostly older people over 60 years old, especially some young people, the common symptoms are shortness of breath, shortness of breath, reduced physical strength, insomnia, difficulty concentrating, indigestion.
