For SellCell, which is estimated at 40% of iPhone users who intend to buy the iPhone SE 2022, it seems that the company is a bit “convulsed” in terms of estimates, because this figure is too high compared to reality. This was further strengthened when the survey showed that only 24% of respondents said they would buy the iPhone SE 2022 for themselves, 16% bought it for someone else. To be honest, even 24% seems high. The company didn’t really say how the respondents were selected, but said it was an “independent survey of 2,549 adults who own an iPhone in the US”.
A more reasonable estimate from IDC predicts that the 2022 iPhone SE will account for about 10% of iPhone shipments globally once they hit shelves starting March 18. This figure is probably more accurate than the 40% offered by SellCell.
But most importantly, last December, analysts at JP Morgan predicted the new iPhone SE would attract more than 1 billion non-premium Android users willing to upgrade. If this happens, it’s definitely a huge opportunity for the new iPhone SE in particular and Apple in general, as the company is looking to entice Android users to switch to its smartphone ecosystem.
