On March 15, at least four large buildings in Kiev were hit by air strikes, killing two people, the mayor of Kiev Vitali Klitschko announced on Telegram.

Vitali Klitschko said that in response to the impending Russian airstrikes, Kiev would impose a 36-hour curfew. The order is in effect from 8 p.m. on March 15 to 7 a.m. on March 17 local time.

During the curfew period, people in Kiev are prohibited from leaving their homes without special permission.

“I ask all Kievans to be prepared for the fact that they will have to stay in a house or emergency shelter for almost two days,” Klitschko said.

In Kharkiv, authorities said there were 65 shooting attacks in the city on March 14, which resulted in multiple casualties.

By Syniehubov – the head of the Civil Administration of the Kharkiv Region – said that the fighting between the armed forces of Ukraine and the Russian army was fierce from March 14 to 15 in the 3 cities of Izium, Balaklia and Dergachi.

“More than 600 buildings in Kharkiv have been destroyed since Russia launched its military operation. This condition cannot be restored or repaired. Thousands of people lost their homes,” Syniehubov said.

Mr Syniehubov said that Kharkiv was still surrounded by Russian troops. Many people in cities face shortages of food, water, medicine and especially gas for heating.

The situation in Mariupol is also no better than in Kharkiv. Mariupol authorities say about 350,000 civilians are still trapped in the city. Since March 1, Mariupol has been under siege by Russian troops.

“I received news that the situation in Mariupol is very bad. Many people died from disease and lack of medicine,” Volodymyr Matsokin, deputy mayor of the city of Izium (Ukraine), told CNN.

Matsokin said that Mariupol was in dire need of humanitarian assistance as it was constantly being targeted by airstrikes and shelling by the Russian army.

“We estimate that there are still around 350,000 civilians who have not been able to evacuate Mariupol,” Petro Andriushchenko, an adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, told Ukrainian television.

“Most of the civilians have to live in the dungeons with appalling conditions. No food, no water, no heating. Many people have to cook snow to get drinking water,” said Petro Andriushchenko.

Mariupol authorities said that as of March 14, only about 300 civilians had been evacuated to the city of Zaporizhzhia.

“As we reported, about 160 cars left the city on March 14. We received news at 10 am on March 15 that 300 people have reached Zaporizhzhia,” the Mariupol government announced on social media.
