Revealing the cause of the scuffle at the hydropower project that left 8 people injured

On the morning of March 15, the Standing Party Committee and People’s Committee of Sa Pa town (Lao Cai province) were directing the town police to coordinate with relevant units to continue verifying and clarifying the incident that injured 8 people in the commune. Ngu Chi Son.

The afternoon of the previous day, in Lu Khau village, Ngu Chi Son commune, some local citizens got into a fight with a group of workers belonging to May Ho Energy Co., Ltd. As a result of the incident, 8 people were injured, several vehicles and construction machinery were destroyed.

According to the People’s Committee of Sa Pa town, the cause comes from a group of local citizens who have prevented the construction of the May Ho hydropower project. Receiving information, Sa Pa Town People’s Committee directed functional forces, Ngu Chi Son Commune People’s Committee to protect the scene, prevent and disperse the crowd, and take the injured to the emergency room.

Since November 2019, the People’s Committee of Sa Pa town has recovered the land of 45 households in Ngu Chi Son commune to implement this hydropower project.
