Should I disconnect the clutch, shift the gear to N while running to save gas?

I think that disconnecting the clutch or “mo” to let the car drift by inertia when traveling on long distances will help save fuel significantly. But I don’t understand if doing so will harm the car or not?

I have a driver’s license for 4 years and am using one KIA Cerato floor number. As a habit since learning to drive, when traveling on a clear road, I often disconnect the clutch to let the car drift, sometimes even switch to “mo” to take advantage of the car’s inertia. When you need to accelerate, release the clutch and slowly increase the throttle.

Should the driver disconnect the clutch, shift the gear to N to save gas?

When the clutch is disconnected, the car only maintains the engine rpm of 700-800 rpm, so it runs very smoothly. I suppose, with such low rpm, the car will energy saving significantly, especially when gasoline prices are rising as high as they are today. Not only manual cars, but some of my acquaintances who drive automatic transmission cars also move to N when possible to save fuel.

However, it is not clear whether such a clutch break in the long run is harmful to the gearbox or the clutch leaf of the vehicle? And can automatic transmission cars apply the N way to save fuel like some of my friends do?

Looking forward to receiving advice from experts and people with experience. Thank you!
