Vietnamese families clinging to Ukraine

Mr. Dinh Thao is a 2nd-class wounded soldier. It was difficult to travel. During the evacuation, he had to go a long way, crowded, sometimes standing all day in the snow, so he, his wife and 2 children decided to stay in Kharkov. Every time there was an alarm, he would go down to the potato cellar in the house, and his two young children and his wife ran to the church opposite. He said: “No matter what, father and son carry the backpack and run. That’s all the luggage, how much is left behind.”

These days, the people of Kharkov wait in long lines to receive free food assistance. Each person only gets 1 small bag but they are still willing to wait 2-3 hours. The Village of the Vietnamese people is now deserted and silent.

Ms. Le Hong Thuy – Vietnamese who lives in Kharkov city, Ukraine said: “Most of the shops and pharmacies are closed, some are open but there is a line of nearly 100 people. Maybe you wait for 2-3 hours, it’s your turn. I am still in the Vietnamese village, there are only a few Vietnamese people here. I still hear the explosion of bombs every day, but in a further area. Electricity, water, gas are still full, there is still a fireplace.”

There are Vietnamese who have chosen to return to their homeland, who have chosen to go to a third country and start over. People cling to stay, but all have the same wish: Peace.
