Mark Zuckerberg confirmed to soon bring NFT to Instagram
In a recent conversation, Mark Zuckerberg announced that his company plans to introduce NFT to Instagram “shortly”. While the CEO and founder of Meta didn’t give too many details, he did describe the integration of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) into the company’s photo and video-sharing app as something of a turning point. rolled out, after the Instagram development team addressed some technical challenges.
“We are working on bringing NFT to Instagram in the near future,” Zuckerberg said. “I’m not ready to say exactly what will happen today, but over the next few months your ability to put some NFTs in and hopefully over time we can make them in the environment there.”
In December of last year, Instagram Director Adam Mosseri confirmed that the company is “actively exploring” NFTs with the goal of bringing the technology to a wider audience. Mosseri said in an Instagram Story that: “I think it’s a fun place where we can play and hopefully help the creators.”
Last summer, Instagram hosted “Creators Week”, an invite-only virtual summit. The company described it as a “private event for NFT creators” in your invitation.
Clearly, Instagram’s interest in NFT is tied to parent company Meta’s broader vision of a virtual world potentially lucratively linked to digital commodities.
“I hope that the outfit your avatar is wearing in the Metaverse can be molded into NFT and you can take it between different places.” Zuckerberg said. “There’s a bunch of technical issues that need to be worked out before things really go seamlessly.”
Zuckerberg, who is known for wearing the same gray t-shirt every day, also shared that he currently does most of his shopping on Instagram and Facebook.
“Probably most of the things I wear, I can buy through Instagram, Facebook Shops or ads,” he said.
