Minister Nguyen Hong Dien: The supply of petroleum is never short

This morning (March 16), in response to the issue of petroleum supply at the questioning session of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien said that in the past few days, world gasoline prices have increased sharply. because the basic reason is supply disruption in some countries with large output, as well as the tension between Russia and Ukraine.

These things caused the world petroleum market to turn upside down, increasing the amplitude from 40 to 60%. Besides, in the country, we also face difficulties from supply because Nghi Son – the factory supplies 35-40% of domestic oil production each month.

“The output of Nghi Son factory decreased suddenly, sometimes the capacity decreased to only 55%. The higher times in the past 3 months only increased to 80% of capacity”, Mr. Dien informed.

According to Mr. Dien, since January, the Ministry has directly directed its system, which requires all key enterprises with the function of importing and trading petroleum to import enough output from Nghi Son factory. shortage to ensure sufficient domestic supply.

“By mid-February, the domestic petroleum supply is confirmed to be enough to meet the end of March. The average oil output we use in each month is about 1.8-1.9 million m3, which we have about 3 million m3 in the middle of February. This means that by the end of March, we will still be able to meet the gasoline demand. “, emphasized Mr. Dien.

Mr. Dien also said that the ministry will continue to direct key enterprises to continue planning to import in March, exceeding the normal import volume. Normally, each month imports 500,000 m3, but according to the direction of the Ministry, it is imported twice.

“It is confirmed that the supply of gasoline is never short of,” emphasized Mr. Dien.

Regarding petrol price management, according to Mr. Dien, our price increase range has been at the highest level of the lower bound of the world over the past time.

Regarding the inspection of petroleum business activities, according to Mr. Nguyen Hong Dien, the country has about 17,000 retail stores, the market management force has inspected 16,800 stores. In which, the violating shops have been handled, the number of violations is very small (211 stores).

“The phenomenon of some gas stations closing for the reason that there is no supply is real. Because these stores receive gasoline from Nghi Son, and this plant suddenly drops, it is not possible for these stores to immediately get the amount of gasoline,” said Minister Dien.
