North Korea launched an unidentified object but apparently failed

The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff said the object was launched from the Sunan area in Pyongyang at 9:30 a.m. on March 16 (local time).

Japan’s public broadcaster NHK quoted the country’s Defense Ministry as saying that North Korea had launched an object suspected to be a ballistic missile.

Earlier, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on March 6 that the country had conducted an “important test” to develop a spy satellitea day after it was reported that Pyongyang had ballistic missile launch Monday in just one week.

This is North Korea’s ninth weapons test so far this year. The missile was launched from the Sunan area and flew about 270 km at an altitude of 560 km.

Regarding this launch, on March 7, Choson Sinbo, a pro-North Korea newspaper based in Japan, said that Pyongyang will launch a rocket carrying a satellite at a “time and place” depending on the time and place. according to the decision of the leadership of the country regarding the development of a “spy satellite” announced by Pyongyang.

In a message sent to reporters, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff stressed: “South Korean and US intelligence agencies are conducting an additional analysis.”
