The University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi and the Hanns Seidel Organization in Vietnam held a ceremony to announce the 3rd National Report on Vietnam with the theme “Vietnam – A Digital Society”.

The study, conducted by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Justus Liebig Giessen University, Germany with funding from the Hanns Seidel Foundation, assessed the impact of the process. digital transformation to various development areas of Vietnam, from economic development, digital government, workforce to education, health and entertainment.

Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh, former President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, said: “Digitalization has become an important part of our daily lives and it is impossible to imagine a life without technology in the present era. how.

Analyze specific issues such as Digital Media and Digital Entertainment, Information in the Digital Age, Digital Competence, Digital Skills for Teaching and Learning, Smart Cities, Labor Issues in the Digital Process With the transformation of Vietnam’s economy, digital health, cybercrime and e-government, the report’s authors all agree that digital transformation is opening up great opportunities but also bringing many challenges. for Vietnam. Therefore, there is a need for rapid transformation and adaptation from the government, businesses and people to take advantage of opportunities, overcome challenges, and contribute to building a digital society.

Michael Siegner, Chief Representative of the Hanns Seidel Foundation in Vietnam said: “Besides the many benefits and opportunities that digital transformation brings to millions of Vietnamese people, there has also been growing concern. Vietnam’s readiness, in terms of institutions, policies, skills, and resources for a strong digital transformation. This Country Report addresses the potential benefits and challenges of digitization in Vietnam from many different angles.”

Presenting the main research results in the Report Vietnam – A Digital Society, Dr. Detlef Briesen, Justus Liebig Giessen University, co-editor of the report, said: “There are signs that Vietnam can directly make the leap from an industrial and service society that is still far from mature. to an information society. The Covid-19 pandemic can contribute to accelerating this process in many countries and Vietnam will go a long way in the coming years.”

The Vietnam Annual Country Report Project is designed to provide in-depth insights and up-to-date information on issues of great interest in modern Vietnamese society. The report “Vietnam – A Digital Society” is the third publication in the project’s series of publications.

Together with this Report No. 3, the first publication was published in January 2021 with the theme “Vietnam – An aging society”, the second publication “Environmental Policy in Vietnam” was published. Published in October 2021. The Special Issue – an in-depth publication – with the theme “Overcoming the legacy of war in Vietnam” is expected to be published and published in June 2022.
