Quang Ninh adds 3,470 hectares of urban land to develop the Dong Trieu – Uong Bi area

Through the review, Dong Trieu – Uong Bi – Quang Yen currently has more than 5,700 hectares of land in urban areas and villages. In the near future, the area will be added 3,470 hectares, bringing the land area for urban development to over 9,000 hectares.

About 20,000 hectares of the remaining land fund will be used for the development of service centers, industry, logistics, warehouses, and traffic, of which the land area for industry, logistics and warehouses is about 5,500 hectares.

Dong Trieu – Uong Bi – Quang Yen region is oriented to develop into a bustling and modern western metropolis of Quang Ninh province.

From March 18, 2021, the Provincial People’s Committee issued Decision No. 828/QD-UBND approving “Construction planning for Dong Trieu – Uong Bi – Quang Yen (Southwest National Highway 18A area) to 2040, with a vision by 2050”. The total planned area is over 29,000 hectares, of which, the area within the administrative boundary of Dong Trieu town is over 8,000 hectares, the area within the boundary of Uong Bi city is nearly 6,200 hectares and the area is within the administrative boundary of the town. Quang Yen on 14,800 ha.

This area will in the future support and share functions with the central urban area of ​​Quang Ninh (Ha Long – Cam Pha – Van Don). At the same time, connecting with Hai Phong and Hai Duong, promoting the advantages of being a hub for road, railway and seaport traffic at regional and inter-regional levels to form a high-tech industrial center, a center goods trade services, logistics associated with seaports, river ports.

Orientation to 2030, the area of ​​Dong Trieu – Uong Bi – Quang Yen has an economic growth rate of 7 – 16.4%/year, in the period of 2030 – 2040 reaching over 7%/year. The economic structure will shift towards gradually reducing the agricultural sector, rapidly increasing the industry – construction and service sectors.

In particular, relevant departments and branches have also advised Quang Ninh to form two separate development zones in this area. In particular, Dong Trieu town area is multi-purpose development with medium density, including functions: urban, high-tech agriculture, tourism, regional industrial park and river port combined with agricultural and tourism areas. cultural area north of National Highway 18A, section through Dong Trieu to form a cultural tourism area, experience, high-tech agriculture.

The rest, Uong Bi – Quang Yen area is a high density development area, including functions: urban, industry, service, high-tech industry, port, logistics. The space of Uong Bi city is developed and expanded towards Da Bac river; space Quang Yen town is extended towards Bach Dang river and Ha Long – Hai Phong highway.

In order to promptly meet the needs of fast and strong development of the region in accordance with the planning, Quang Ninh has invested in many infrastructure projects connecting the regions, such as the project of a riverside route running from Quang Yen town through Uong Bi city to Dong Trieu town, or cooperate with Hai Phong to invest in the project of Ben Rung bridge across Da Bac river, connecting Thuy Nguyen district (Hai Phong) with Quang Yen town (Quang Ninh).
