Doctors will assess the risk and screen for dangerous sequelae such as: Thrombotic complications (forming blood clots), myocarditis, pericarditis, interstitial pneumonia, pulmonary fibrosis or polymyositis syndrome system organs, neurological and endocrine diseases, if any.

The doctor further noted that children at risk of severe post-Covid-19 symptoms are those infected with Covid-19 whose symptoms persist for more than 4 weeks from the date of infection; or 4 weeks after being infected with Covid-19 appear new symptoms such as:

Respiratory symptoms: Cough lasting more than 4 weeks, chest pain, shortness of breath on exertion, or coughing up pink foam, coughing up blood. Examination is required for pulmonary thromboembolic complications, pneumonia, pulmonary fibrosis, or lung infection

Cardiovascular manifestations: Chest pain, shortness of breath on exertion, irregular heartbeat, extreme fatigue; especially when symptoms are persistent or severe.

Taste disturbance: Older children may complain, young children often show anorexia, poor appetite for a long time even after recovering from Covid-19.

Neuropsychiatric: Children have symptoms such as language disorders, slurred speech, decreased ability to focus attention, impaired learning, mood swings or headaches. It should be noted, headache is a fairly common symptom, if the condition persists for more than 4 weeks, does not decrease or the headache is severe enough to affect the child’s activities, it is necessary to take the child to the doctor.
