Ho Chi Minh City: More than 81% of parents of grades 1 – 6 agree to have their children vaccinated against Covid-19

This afternoon, March 17, at a press conference on the prevention of Covid-19 and economic recovery, Mr. Trinh Duy Trong, Head of the Political and Thought Department, Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City said, through a survey, the percentage of parents agreeing to vaccinate their preschool children is 60.49%. At primary and sixth grade levels, 81.19% of parents agreed to vaccinate their children. Meanwhile, at lower secondary level, this rate is 87.68%.

Regarding the preparation of vaccination for children from 5 years old to under 12 years old, Mr. Trong said he was still waiting for the plan of the health sector. Up to now, the city’s education sector has prepared all the work ready for immediate implementation when it is planned. In addition, the Health and Education sector has also organized training for educational institutions. Schools are making lists, entering children’s information into the system.

The city’s education sector will continue to prepare, and propagate and call for more consensus.

Ho Chi Minh City currently has about 1 million children aged 5-11, in the field of Covid-19 vaccination.
