Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Director of the Higher Education Department, Ministry of Education and Training, said that the Admissions In 2021, there is a virtual candidate status, one student is admitted to many different universities in the same examination.
The main reason is that students apply for admission by many different methods such as: taking separate exams, applying for admission according to academic records, international certificates, a combination of admission methods… while only can confirm admission to one school, the rest are just virtual candidates.
Therefore, in this year’s university and college enrollment, the Ministry of Education and Training plans to build a common virtual filtering software for all admission methods, including university-specific admissions methods. instead of just virtual filtering by the method of admission based on high school graduation exam scores as before.
Thus, each candidate will only pass 1 wish in 1 method, there is no longer the situation where 1 candidate can pass to many schools in many different admission methods like in previous years.
On the other hand, the virtual filtering software of the Ministry of Education and Training currently only applies to the method of admission based on high school graduation exam scores, while the enrollment in the 2022 enrollment season for this method in schools is decreasing. In many schools, the level is even above 50%. That is one of the reasons the Department decided to innovate virtual filtering.
Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son said that statistics in the last three years show that the percentage of virtual candidates has increased because the virtual filtering system has not yet included candidates who are considered for admission according to the school’s own method. Therefore, the Ministry’s introduction of virtual filtering software common to all methods will overcome the above problem.
It is expected that all candidates who apply for admission by any method will register online on the general portal of the Ministry of Education and Training within the stipulated time. Candidates will upload the necessary documents to the software, the schools will be responsible for comparing and verifying these documents when the candidate enters if they pass.
The aspirations are ranked in order from one to the end, in which wish 1 is the highest. Each candidate is given an identification number, which is the candidate’s citizenship card. The Ministry of Education and Training has coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security to link enrollment data with population data to best implement management.
At the end of the registration period, the schools will download the candidate data from the software, run the school’s own software and update the results of the successful candidates back to the general software. of the Department to run system-wide virtual filtering. Accordingly, each candidate will only pass one wish in one method of admission to a school according to the principle of giving priority to higher aspirations.
The policy of building and applying a common virtual filtering software of the Ministry of Education and Training has received the consensus of many universities because it will overcome the situation of virtual candidates. This is inherently a “headache” problem for schools each enrollment season because if they do not calculate and subtract the correct number of virtual candidates, the school will be at risk of under or over quota.
