“The tree and shrine are located on my land, which my family has managed and cared for since ancient times until now. The ancients said, the brooch is very sacred, no one dares to desecrate it, no one dares to cut it down. Anyone who commits a crime will have bad luck,” added Ru.

Elders in the region assert that, when this area was still a dense forest, the brooch tree stood tall, despite all efforts to destroy it to reclaim the land of indigenous people and people from all over the world. During the war, the area with the brooch was also within range of enemy artillery.

Mr. Ru added: “Every year when the fruit is ripe, the brooch is luxuriant and purple on the branches. However, since ancient times, no one has dared to climb up to pick the fruit to eat or sell. Everyone who climbs falls falls, if it’s light, they’ll break their arms and legs, and if they’re heavy, they’ll die.

Ever since I was a child, I have witnessed people who dare to disobey, climb trees to pick fruit, fall down. Since then, everyone in the area knows the story, so they only dare to pick up fallen fruit to eat, but they absolutely do not dare to climb up to pick it.”

“I have heard this story since I was a child. It was my father who asked the French not to cut down precious trees. Only then did they withdraw their troops,” said Ru.

Currently, Cay Tram temple is repaired and embellished more spaciously by the people. Every year, on the 18th day of the 2nd lunar month, Mr. Ru’s family still holds worship services at the temple. This activity attracts a lot of local people to participate.

However, in recent years, the campus of the small temple under the great brooch has suddenly become a place for Ouija, asking for numbers of red-and-black believers. Many people believe that the temple is very sacred and has “blessed” many cases of winning the lottery.

Mr. Ru did not know when the brooch and the small temple were. Since he was a child, he has seen and heard thrilling stories about this ancient tree.

Mr. Ru affirmed: “It is true that people buy lottery tickets at Cay Tram temple and win the jackpot. That time, some people bought and won 10 jackpot tickets. However, after winning the lottery, I no longer heard their whereabouts.”

This story is also exchanged and told by people who often go to Cay Tram temple to avoid the sun. Believing that the shrine is sacred, many red-and-black believers come here to buy lottery tickets, ask for numbers… in the hope of changing their lives.
