This morning (March 17), the domestic gold price rebounded by about 300,000 VND/tael compared to the end of yesterday. The difference between the buying and selling prices of SJC gold is currently about 1-1.3 million dong/tael.
Specifically, at Phu Nhuan Jewelry, SJC gold bars are being bought at 67.2 million VND/tael, up 200 thousand compared to yesterday. Meanwhile, the selling price increased by 300 thousand to 68.5 million dong/tael.
Gold 9999 of PNJ brand also increased by about 150 thousand VND to 55.05-56.15 million VND/tael.
Meanwhile, DOJI Group sharply reduced its sales by 700 thousand dong/tael with SJC gold to 67.8 million dong/tael. The buying price remained unchanged at 66.5 million VND/tael.
Compared to the peak of 74.5 million VND/tael, the domestic gold price has decreased by 6-7 million VND/tael.
In the world, the gold price was mostly flat, fluctuated slightly although the US Federal Reserve (Fed) has officially announced an increase of 0.25% of the basic interest rate. This is the first time the Fed has raised interest rates since 2018 and the central bank has also signaled that it will carry out six hikes this year to cope with hot inflation without causing a major impact on the economy.
The news that the Fed raised interest rates did not have much impact on gold prices because it was forecasted and reflected in the fluctuations of the previous weeks.
Currently, the spot gold price on the international market stands at 1,936 USD/ounce, equivalent to 54 million VND/tael when converted at the bank VND/USD exchange rate (excluding taxes and fees).
