US declares ‘not interested in being dragged into World War 3’ because of Ukraine
According to White House Secretary Jen Psaki, the US policy against establishing a no-fly zone over Ukraine will not change.
“President Joe Biden watched speech of his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky before the US Congress. He found President Zelensky very charismatic and powerful. But Biden’s decision-making is done through the ‘prism’ of America’s own national security,” Psaki said in a statement posted on the White House website.

“As we have said before, the no-fly zone will ask us about our ability to shoot down Russian planes. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) will have to shoot down the Russian planes. We have no interest in being dragged into World War 3,” she added.
On March 16, Ukrainian President Zelensky gave an online speech to the US Congress calling for the establishment of a no-fly zone. “Is it too much to ask for a no-fly zone in Ukraine to save people?” Zelensky said at the time.
Republican congressman Thomas Massie later wrote on Twitter that the US’s imposition of a no-fly zone over Ukraine would mean “a military battle between this country and Russia in Europe”.
“That means when Russian planes are shot down by US military forces, retaliation will follow,” Massie warned.
