Belarusian President reveals Russia’s proposed deal to Ukraine to end hostilities

“Russia offers Ukraine a completely acceptable version of the treaty. There is still a possibility that Ukrainian President Zelensky will accept to sign the treaty.” President Lukashenko said in an interview with Japanese TV channel TBS.

According to Lukashenko, if his Ukrainian counterpart refuses to sign the treaty, Kiev will soon have to sign a concession agreement.

The Belarusian leader believes that Russia will not lose this war, and at the same time expressed hope that Moscow’s special military operation in Ukraine will soon end.

“I believe this conflict will end shortly,” Mr. Lukashenko added.

Also in the interview, the Belarusian President emphasized that the West will not be able to drag Minsk into the conflict on Ukrainian soil.

“I am convinced that we will not have to confront Ukraine. The West will not be able to drag us into this conflict. The Belarusian government is smart enough not to be drawn into a conflict in which the Americans and their allies are drawn. you’re pushing us into it“, he added.

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has entered its third week and shows no sign of cooling down.

The two countries have gone through four rounds of negotiations, but still no breakthrough progress has been made.

On March 16, adviser to the President’s Chief of Staff Mykhailo Podolyak said that President Zelensky could hold talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in the coming days. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov did not rule out the possibility of such a meeting.
