Previously, he filled the gas tank with about 50,000 VND, now it is 80,000-100,000 VND. The increase in fuel prices causes a decrease in income from the shipper profession.

In the same situation, technology driver Huynh Thanh Bao (District 8) said that in the past, the price of gasoline was 20,000 VND / liter, the revenue earned was also about 300,000-400,000 VND / day, but now gasoline has increased too high, not including expenses. food and drink costs, the revenue is only 150,000-200,000 VND/day.

“I plan to switch to another job because my current income is not enough to support my family,” he said.

The supplier demanded a price increase

Rising fuel prices not only directly affect the work of drivers. A large nationwide supermarket chain recently received a proposal to increase prices from some suppliers when gasoline prices were continuously adjusted. Specifically, for essential items such as fresh food, dry food (rice, noodles, cooking oil,…), about 5% of suppliers suggested increasing prices with an average increase from 5 -ten%.

“We are continuing to negotiate with suppliers to keep the price unchanged for consumers; at the same time, accept to reduce the profit margin to accompany people in the price storm” – a representative of the supermarket shared. .

Particularly for fresh and frozen products, the proposed price increase mostly comes from imported goods due to the impact of the worldwide labor shortage; Shipping costs by air and by sea are also high. From there, the impact on commodity prices long term. This unit is looking for more quality domestic products at reasonable prices to replace.

According to the General Statistics Office, on average in the first two months of 2022, the consumer price index CPI increased by 1.68% over the same period last year; core inflation increased by 0.67%.

Compared to the previous month, CPI in February 2022 increased by 1% (in urban areas by 0.99%; in rural areas by 1.02%). Among 11 main groups of consumer goods and services, 10 groups of goods increased in price compared to the previous month; 1 group of discounted goods.

“In order to ensure the supply of gasoline, from the end of February, the Ministry of Industry and Trade had an import plan to ensure the supply. In addition to the supply from Nghi Son oil refinery, the ministry has plans for 10 clues to import up to 2.4 million m3 of petroleum, “Mr. Phuong informed.

Meanwhile, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade will work with the Department of Transport to have a plan to support traffic during peak hours for petrol tankers. Because when people focus on buying a lot, the supply of gasoline will be difficult due to the high demand that tank trucks cannot move during the day, leading to a shortage.
