The police investigation agency of Dien Bien district, Dien Bien province decided to temporarily hold criminal charges against Luong Van Anh (SN 1977), residing in Yen Cang 2 village, Sam Man commune, Dien Bien district; Ngo Sy Thanh (SN 1976) and Ngo Sy Tien (SN 1967), living together in Nghe An province to investigate and clarify violations of the law on protection of endangered and rare wild animals.
At about 9pm on March 17, Dien Bien district police discovered and caught three people using electric shocks and knives to kill a tiger.
At the scene, functional forces seized a tiger weighing 220kg, 3 knives, an electric stimulator, a car and many related exhibits. At the police station, the subjects confessed to buying a live tiger in Nghe An, then using a car to transport it to Dien Bien to kill meat to cook and sell for a profit.
