NASA is about to launch a giant rocket to bring a spacecraft to the Moon

More than 50 years after the US Space Agency (NASA) sent humans to the Moon for the first time with Apollo 11, the agency is preparing for a follow-up mission called Artemis 1, which will send humans to explore the Moon.

An important preparatory step of this program took place yesterday when the rocket and spacecraft were rolled out of the launch pad.

Large rockets up to 98 meters high, about the size of a 32-story building, will carry a capsule called Orion carrying crew. The entire missile, ship and ground-based operating systems cost about $37 billion.

Tests in the coming weeks will determine when the rocket will take off to carry the spacecraft, in order to resume a project to send humans to the Moon that has taken the US decades to prepare.

NASA’s current Moon exploration program has the goal of not only returning humans to the Moon to establish a permanent base, but also a premise for the exploration of Mars.
