Robots help humans “present” anywhere

It sounds like something out of a sci-fi movie, but it’s going to be a reality in the near future robot developed by experts at the Italian Institute of Technology. Robot called iCub3 can make your desire to travel remotely come true.

Walk, wave and can do anything according to human remote control, iCub3 robot allows people to experience what they want in real time through this robot. The operator will wear a specialized suit and step into a control system. After that, they can do anything remotely through the iCub3 robot because the robot will act according to the movement of the operator.

“Whenever I make the robot touch something, I feel a vibration on my fingertips, this is because the robot has some artificial skin attached to each fingertip. This way I will feel it. When I control the robot to hold or lift something, the sensor gloves that I am wearing also start to vibrate, letting me sense if the robot is holding the object or not. let me hold on tighter” – Mr. Stefano Dafarra at the Artificial and Mechanical group of the Italian Institute of Technology said.

Basically, the operator can see what the robot sees, can hear what the robot hears. And of course, if it is possible to help people operate and feel from afar, talking through robots is not a problem.

“Initially, it takes a while for the operator to get used to the interaction through another body, there can be a slight delay in sensing. But after that, the feeling is quite enjoyable, for example when you look down you will see the legs of a robot” – Stefano Dafarra shared.

ICub3 is 1.25 m tall and weighs 53 kg. According to the developers, other versions of the robot may appear in the next 5-10 years.

Currently, iCub3 is training for the upcoming ANA Avatar XPRIZE competition – a global competition to create a robotic system that can help send human senses to distant locations in real time. If produced on a large scale, long-distance travel will become a small thing for those who are passionate about travel but cannot afford to travel.
