A sheep in Australia got lost after 6 years of wearing a fur weighing 40 kg.

Some sheep ‘rebellious’ because they did not want to be shaved or for some other reason fled into the deep forest to live. After a few years of hiding, these sheep possess huge, dense coats that look extremely impressive.

An animal sanctuary in Australia has rescued a sheep nicknamed Alex that has been abandoned for years with a huge thick coat.

Pam Ahern, owner of Victoria Edgar’s Mission, said she recently received a call about a hiker spotting a shaggy sheep on nearby Mount Alexander.

The sheep ran away from its ranch when it was a baby, possibly escaping before its owner cut its wool for the first time. Since then, Pam Ahern estimates that in about 6 years, the sheep has never been sheared. Therefore, the mass of hair on its body is very thick, heavy, about 40 kg.

When Pam Ahern arrived at the scene, the sheep looked very weak, lying on the ground and unable to raise its head.

Pam Ahern had to call an expert in the night to perform the shearing of the sheep for fear that it would not be able to save it by the next morning. Holly Kendall, who performs the shearing, said the fur weighs up to 40 kg and no one understands how it can survive with so many kilograms of hair on its body for so many years.

The coat is so thick that it is difficult for Holly to judge where to start. It took Holly Kendall about an hour to cut all the hair on a sheep.

Pam Ahern said: “I called Holly in the night and did the shearing for about an hour. That’s important, I think it’s hard for the sheep to make it through the night without the shearing.” .

After being sheared, the sheep began to improve rapidly. “At the end, the sheep still needed help to be able to stand up, but then its eyes brightened, more alert,” Pam Ahern said.

Every day the sheep’s coat is thicker and longer, while its life chances are also shortening. Through cross-breeding, human selection, there are now many breeds of sheep that require annual shearing to ensure the best standards. Failure to do so puts sheep at a great disadvantage, often with life-threatening consequences.
