1A Hospital reported a patient’s death after breast augmentation in Ho Chi Minh City

According to the report, Ms. NTNN (33 years old, from Dong Thap, living in District 6) suffered from breast hypoplasia (small breasts) on both sides, required breast plastic surgery and was referred to the hospital by Dr. Nguyen Van Thiet. 1A (also known as Ho Chi Minh City Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital) performed surgery. Patients are examined and tested preoperatively according to hospital procedures. The treatment method is breast augmentation surgery with gel bags; Anesthesia method is endotracheal anesthesia.

The surgeon is Nguyen Van Thiet, who has a practicing certificate issued by the Ministry of Health to supplement the scope of medical examination and treatment specializing in plastic surgery. Anesthesiologist and resuscitation doctor is Vo Van Tuan, who has a medical practice certificate specializing in anesthesiology and resuscitation. The two doctors mentioned above have labor contracts with Hospital 1A.

Also according to 1A Hospital’s report, the patient suffered from respiratory arrest during the surgery and was treated with intensive care according to the correct procedure. The case is currently waiting for the results of the forensic examination of the investigative police agency of Tan Binh District Police.

As VOV reported, on the afternoon of March 18, according to the appointment, Ms. NTNN went to 1A Hospital for breast augmentation surgery in normal health. At 15:00 on the same day, N. had not come out yet, so her family members went to ask the doctor and was informed that Ms. N. was under anesthesia and had not yet woken up. Family members asked to visit but were not allowed. However, the doctor later reported that the patient had a drop in blood pressure and also refused to let his family members in. Her family members went to the rooms to find her and found her lying on a bed in one of the rooms, but dead.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that it had written to 1A Hospital to clearly report the content of the above medical incident so that the Health Department could have a basis to report to the City People’s Committee and the Ministry of Health. Upon receipt of the Hospital’s report, the Department of Health will provide further information on the Hospital’s approved technical list and consider meeting the Technical and Professional Council of the Department of Health to have a conclusion on this matter. /.
