A woman died while having breast augmentation at Ho Chi Minh City Hospital

The victim is a female NTNN (born in 1989, from Dong Thap province), found dead by her family at Hospital 1A (HCMC).

According to her family, at 11:30 on March 18, Ms. N. was hospitalized for breast augmentation surgery at 1A Hospital. Accompanying the victim’s family and close friends. The family also has someone who has had breast augmentation surgery, so they know the process and time for this surgery.

Around 3pm the same day, because the wait was too long, the family member asked the medical staff about the condition of Ms. N., and was answered: “The patient is under anesthesia, not awake”. Also, refuse requests to see or see the patient.

According to her family, Ms. N. was found dead.

At that time, Ms. N.’s relatives were very worried and suspected there was a serious problem. After a long time, the hospital phoned in but still did not report the status, did not allow to see Ms. N.

Ms. T., the victim’s sister, said that the family had to search each room by themselves to find out where Ms. N. was lying. According to Ms. T., the victim had already passed away before being found.

“If my sister went to this hospital today to have breast augmentation alone, she would probably die,” said Ms. T. exasperated.

According to the family, the patient has a history of asthma, has recovered from Covid-19 for about 3 months, and has low blood pressure. However, the 1A hospital doctor examined and confirmed that he was eligible for surgery. “We very confidently chose this hospital because it is a large state hospital, we did not expect things to be like this.”

Not stopping there, since the incident until midnight on March 18, the victim’s family did not meet a hospital leader who came down to work or explain. Only the doctor who directly performed breast augmentation surgery came to apologize.

Ms. T. said, what made the family more pressing, was that the heartbreaking incident had not been clarified, the victim had not yet been taken care of, and the hospital asked to pay the full hospital fee.

Family members must search each room to determine where Ms. N. is lying.

“The hospital asked us to pay to bring the body back. How can people die and still have to pay money, is that too much?”, Ms. T. said. It is known that a person in the surgical team offered to send the family 20 million to send to the victim’s child, but the family refused.

“Our family doesn’t need money, we need reason,” said Ms. T.

Late on March 18, Mr. Ngo Anh Tuan – deputy director of 1A Hospital confirmed that the police agency was working at the hospital. However, he refused to provide relevant information because “it is not good to hear the case from both sides”, the information will be provided by a third party, a police agency.

The family also requested an autopsy to clarify the cause of death of Ms.
