China records 2 deaths from COVID-19 in more than 1 year

Both of these deaths were in Jilin province, northeast China.

Yesterday, China recorded more than 2,000 new cases. The fast-spreading variant of Omicron is posing major challenges for the country.

Chinese authorities have had to blockade cities where the outbreak has occurred, tens of millions of people have been asked to stay at home to control and quell the new outbreak.

Currently, China is still persistently pursuing the Zero COVID campaign.
