Father mixes pesticides in fresh water for his children to drink

On March 19, information from the People’s Procuracy of Can Tho City said that it had approved the prosecution of the accused and a temporary detention order for the crime of “Murder” against Le Thanh Phu (30 years old, living in Thoi Hoa area, Phuoc Thoi ward). , O Mon district, Can Tho city).

According to the case file, Phu and Ms. TNBH (29 years old, living in Thoi Phong area, Thoi An ward, O Mon district, Can Tho city) had a husband and wife relationship from 2012 to June 2021, then divorced. The two have a common child, LPT (6 years old).

After the divorce, Ms. H. entrusted her child to Phu to raise according to the decision to recognize the agreement of the O Mon District People’s Court.

At the beginning of March 2022, Ms. H. asked the court to change the child custodian because Phu beat and yelled at him, affecting the safety of T.

On March 14, 2022, the O Mon District People’s Court invited Phu and Ms. H. to come to conduct reconciliation. At this time, Phu was angry, so he took T. to leave and did not sign the minutes.

On the way back, he had an idea to kill his son and then committed suicide by drinking insecticide. After that, Phu went to a store selling agricultural supplies to buy a bottle of pesticide for 130,000 VND, then drove T. to an inn (in Thoi Ngon B area, Phuoc Thoi ward, O Mon district) to rent a room.

Here, Phu asked the innkeeper to bring into the room 2 bottles of soft drink, a glass of ice water and 2 straws for the purpose of mixing pesticides for easy drinking.

Then, Phu poured about 150ml of insecticide and half a bottle of soft drink into the ice bucket and asked T. to drink it.

However, after drinking a little, T. was uncomfortable so he sprayed it out. Seeing his child cry, Phu used his hand to hook T.’s grandchild to vomit but could not. Then, Phu took T. to the emergency hospital.

Currently, the case is being further investigated.
