On the same day, the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City received news about a case of patient N. who died while performing plastic surgery.

Immediately after receiving the information, the Board of Directors of the Department of Health directed the Inspector to work directly at Hospital 1A to grasp the incident information and take appropriate action.

However, when the Department of Health Inspector came to the hospital, the hospital’s Board of Directors and the treatment team of Ms. NTNN were coordinating with the Tan Binh District Police to investigate the case.

Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that 1A Hospital is a hospital directly under the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs.

Pursuant to Circular No. 43/2018/TT-BYT dated December 26, 2018 of the Ministry of Health guiding the prevention of medical incidents in medical examination and treatment establishments, the Department of Health has issued a written request to Request Hospital 1A to clearly report the above medical incident so that the Department of Health has a basis to report to the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the Ministry of Health.

Upon receipt of the Hospital’s report, the Department of Health will provide further information on the Hospital’s approved technical list and consider meeting the Technical and Professional Council of the Department of Health to have a conclusion on this matter.

As reported, at about 11:30 am on March 18, Ms. N. had breast augmentation surgery by appointment. A few hours later, the family did not see Ms. N., so they asked the doctor, and the doctor replied that the patient was under anesthesia, not awake. Also, refuse requests to see or see the patient.

At that time, Ms. N.’s relatives were very worried and suspected there was a serious problem.

After a long time, the hospital phoned in but still did not report the status, did not allow to see Ms. N.

Ms. T., sister of Ms. N. was upset, the family had to find the room by themselves to find out where Ms. N. was lying, but Ms. N. died before being found.

The victim’s family said that Ms. N. had a history of asthma, had just recovered from Covid-19 for about 3 months, and had low blood pressure. However, the doctor examined and confirmed the conditions for surgery.

In addition, from the time the incident happened until late at night on March 18, Ms. T’s family had not met the hospital leader or had any greetings.

Ms. T. said, what made the family more frustrated was that the heartbreaking incident had not been clarified, the victim had not yet been taken care of, and the hospital asked to pay the full hospital fee.
