Abandoned by his father right after losing his mother

At 4 am, Mrs. Ho Thi Ngoc (55 years old, from Tien Giang) woke up. Afraid that her child would wake up, she crept away the old mattress and spread it on the floor, then hid behind to prepare food and water for her son to sell lottery tickets.

It was still dark. The sound of insects chirping reminded her of the day she discovered the two children abandoned by their biological father 14 years ago. At that time, her family was still living in a house in District 2 (now Thu Duc City), Ho Chi Minh City.

At 5:30 a.m. that morning, Ngoc’s mother heard the sound of a child crying from the room where the woman had died a few days ago. Not seeing the sound of adults comforting the weak crying child, she lamented.

She woke her son, sent him across the room to examine. Then, this person ran to report: “The father of the two children locked the door and left. The two children inside were crying.

Early in the morning, Mrs. Ngoc wakes up to prepare rice and water for her two adopted children.

Ngoc’s family broke the lock to go inside and saw that the baby boy was 1 month and 14 days old, pale, and his limbs were no longer moving. Meanwhile, the baby older than 2 years old is crying like she wants to faint.

That is the child of a poor couple from the North to District 2 to stay and work as a hired hand. The wife, who was inherently weak, had a heart condition, so she was even more timid. Her first son is almost 2 years old, she is pregnant with the second child.

After giving birth for more than a month, she exhausted her strength and passed away. Loving the poor couple living with gratitude, the people living in the same apartment block collected, bought the deceased a coffin and then burned it.

Ms. Ngoc recalls: “The day his wife died, the husband was as depressed as a person who lost his soul. He stood alone in the middle of the funeral, doing whatever he did and almost oblivious to it. After burning his wife back, the next morning, he locked the door, locked his two children, and then went missing with his wife’s ashes.”

Mrs. Ngoc recounted the story of discovering two children abandoned by their biological father in a locked room.

Discovering two abandoned children, Ms. Ngoc’s family took her to the police to report and message to find her father and relatives. After three months, they have not received any information about the relatives of the two children.

The local government intends to send the children to an orphanage. Loving the two children who were twice unhappy, Ngoc’s mother made the papers, adopted them and gave them back to Mrs. Ngoc.

That year, Ms. Ngoc was in her 40s and had just returned home after 19 years of entering the Buddha’s door to escape an unfinished love affair, full of tears.

“My mother said: “I’m not married, both of us have no parents to take care of, so I’ll save and raise them.” I was moved, hugged them in my arms, raised them like my own children, “said Mrs. Ngoc.

Giving up youth, raising strangers

Having never given birth, suddenly becoming a single mother raising two children, Mrs. Ngoc was surprised and confused. In addition to being helped and taught by her biological mother, she noticed and learned how to raise children from her biological sister.

After many years of nurturing, Mrs. Ngoc loves her two adopted children like her own. She was moved to tears when she told the series of days the mother and daughter worked hard to make a living together.

With the instinct of a woman, she began to know how to make milk for her children, put them to sleep, change diapers, and bathe them. But raising an older child is easy, a small child causes her a lot of trouble. The baby had congenital stenosis, so he suddenly fainted while drinking milk.

Each time, Mrs. Ngoc rushed to take her child to the emergency room. When the baby was 1 year old, the doctor said that the baby needed surgery “otherwise it will be difficult to live”. Ms. Ngoc’s family has helped but still cannot afford the surgery.

She risked her son to go knocking door to door to beg. Then there were people who loved and helped her mother and her daughter enough money to be hospitalized for treatment. Since then, the baby got better but still has to take medicine every month until now.

When the child was 8 years old, her mother passed away. She lost someone who helped both financially and mentally in raising children.

The hired job was not enough for 3 mouths to eat, she took her two children to Can Duoc district (Long An province) to earn a living. Here, she sent her oldest child to school, then took the younger one to cut sugarcane, pick lemons for hire…

Until now, Ms. Ngoc’s second adopted child still has to take medicine. Every day, she personally prepares medicine for her children.

Having escaped for 14 years, her eldest child is 16 years old. During those 14 years, she quietly and orphaned raised people so ignorant that she forgot her own happiness. Seeing them both as biological children, she sacrificed her youth, rejecting many men who were willing to go with her for the rest of her life.

She shared: “The more I raise them, the more I love them and then stay like that. Since raising two children, I only think of two children and do not care about my own happiness.”

“If I had my own happiness, I would not have taken care of my two children as well as I do now. So, whoever comes to me, I refuse and expect them to find someone else because I now just want to live for two children,” she added.

Love is like that, but Mrs. Ngoc still hopes that one day the two children will find their biological father. If that day comes, she is ready to reunite father and son. Before that, when the child was 9 years old, Mrs. Ngoc also decided to tell her the truth that she was just an adoptive mother.

That day, she took out a tiny photo of a card from an old pillow left behind by the biological father of two children. She told the two children that this was their biological mother.

The altar of the biological mother of the children was set up by Mrs. Ngoc and 2 children at the inn in Long An.

Both do not believe. They hugged her and burst into tears. She explained that doing so is for the children to understand and know their roots. After an emotional moment, both of them accepted their biological mother, but still considered her as a second mother and did not change their long-standing love for her.

Her eldest son asked to take a picture of his biological mother to make a worship photo in a corner of the motel room. Every year, her children hold a funeral for their biological mother.

Until now, Ms. Ngoc has never regretted sacrificing her youth to raise two other people’s children. Her children are very obedient and love her dearly.

She confided: “For the past 14 years, my parents and I have always been together, sharing the sweet and the good together. When I was sick as well as when I was healthy, my children were by my side, taking care of me and helping me. I just want to be healthy enough to take care of my children until they grow up. At that time, even if I close my eyes, I can rest in peace.”
