On March 19, speaking with Dan Viet Reporter, Colonel Nguyen Thanh Truong – Hung Yen Provincial Police Director said that there were still no sample test results from the victims, so the cause could not be determined for the time being.
“We are still coordinating with the special units of the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Health to clarify. The case is serious and complicated, so the special agency is doing it very carefully. As a result, we will actively inform the press,” Provincial Police Director Hung Yen said.

Previously, on the afternoon of December 26, 2021, Mr. Nguyen Tien San’s family (50 years old, living in Lai Ha village, Hung An commune, Kim Dong district) had lunch with their children and grandchildren. Meal for 9 people including: Mr and Mrs San, Nguyen Thi Tuoi (SN 1994), Nguyen Thi Tinh (SN 1996), Pham Van Vuong (SN 1995), Nguyen Hoang Nam (SN 2013), Nguyen Thanh Truc (SN 2019) . ), Pham Thi Anh Binh (SN 2017) and Pham Gia Trong (SN 2019).
After the meal, his two daughters, Tuoi and Tinh, and Tuan San’s two granddaughters, Nam and Binh, developed symptoms of vomiting and seizures, so the family took them to the emergency room. However, Nam and Binh died. A few days later, Ms. Tuoi and Ms. Tinh is also not safe. In particular, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung (husband of Ms. Tuoi), did not attend the meal with his family but was also hospitalized due to fainting, coma and death on January 15, 2022.
A representative from the leadership of the CSHS Department – Hung Yen Provincial Police also said that the unit has coordinated with the Criminal Science and Technology Institute, CSHS Department – Ministry of Public Security to immediately investigate the case. To date, many samples have not been tested. The professional unit continued to clarify a number of details such as 9 people eating together, but some people vomited, some people did not or cases did not participate in eating also passed out, fell into a coma and then died.
The village head of Lai Ha (Hung An commune, Kim Dong district) said that San and his wife worked as farmers, lived in harmony with their neighbors, never had conflicts with anyone. San’s two daughters are married and each family has 2 children. Until now, neither relatives nor neighbors know the cause of the fateful incident, in which there are still many details that cannot be explained.
