On the morning of March 19, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park III project, inaugurating 2 social housing areas and breaking ground for another 20,000 social housing apartments, at the same time proving expected to award certificates to investors, including a $1 billion LEGO Group project.
This is LEGO’s sixth factory in the world and LEGO’s second in Asia. Construction is expected to start this year and put into operation in 2024. As planned, LEGO Group will build a production factory on an area of 44 hectares in VSIP III industrial park. The LEGO factory in Binh Duong will be LEGO’s first carbon-neutral factory using on-site energy from solar cells. VSIP will build a solar project on behalf of LEGO.
The factory in Vietnam will be LEGO’s factory in charge of mold making and packaging for the Asian market, next to the factory in Jiangsu, China.

At the ceremony, LEGO Vice President Preben Elnef said that LEGO’s project in Binh Duong will be: LEGO’s most sustainable factory in the world in terms of design and construction with modern equipment. He is also committed to making a positive impact on children’s lives.
