Russia hopes to reach an agreement with Ukraine

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the information on March 19.

Speaking at a press conference on March 19, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov said that Moscow is ready to seek security guarantees and will work with Ukraine and Europe to do so.

Earlier, Russia made a number of security proposals to the US and NATO aimed at ensuring European security, including requiring NATO to make a legally binding commitment not to continue expanding eastward, respecting the border framework dating back to 1997.

However, the US and NATO sides did not give the expected response of Russia.

The Russian foreign minister also said that Russia’s relations with China will become stronger before the Western sanctions.

On the same day, the spokesman for the President of Turkey, Ibrahim Kalin said that, Russia and Ukraine peace agreement can be reached. The question now is when and how this agreement is reached.

“A peace agreement is possible. The question now is when and how to achieve it“, Ibrahim Kalin said in an interview with Al Jazeera.

According to Ibrahim Kalin, Turkey considers the organization of the meeting between the Russian and Ukrainian presidents a key task.

“We keep our communication channels open to both sides. It is very important to hold a face-to-face meeting between the President of Russia and the President of Ukraine. Both sides had working-level meetings in Belarus. The first foreign ministerial meeting took place on the sidelines of a diplomatic forum in Antalya, Turkey. The key task now is to organize a high-level meeting between the two countries“, Anadolu news agency quoted spokesman Ibrahim Kalin as saying.
