The announcement on March 20 required people with a negative Covid-19 test result within 48 hours to access public transport services, shops and newly reopened public spaces. Such locations will operate at 50% capacity this week.

The rules come after the lockdown in Shenzhen, enacted on March 13, caused disruptions across the entire technology supply chain.

Before the new regulation, manufacturers like Foxconn continue some operations in the city, while other counties maintain a distance order, all workers must stay at home and undergo three rounds of Covid tests. -19.

Transport workers in non-infected counties are allowed to travel between other uninfected counties, but are not allowed to enter infected counties.

Those restrictions remain in place amid a low number of new infections. On March 20, Shenzhen recorded 66 cases out of its entire population of more than 20 million residents. Shenzhen recorded 105 cases on March 18, which is the largest number of new infections recorded in the last week.
